The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark - Blunderbus Theatre Company

Based on the classic children’s book by Jill Tomlinson. Adapted for the stage by Lynn Robertson Hay, with music and lyrics by Frank Goodhind.

Plop was a baby barn owl. He lived at the top of a tall tree, in a field. He was fat and fluffy. He had big round eyes. He had very knackety knees. Plop was exactly the same as every barn owl that has ever been – except for one thing. He was AFRAID of the DARK.

“I don’t like it,” said Plop. “I do not like it AT ALL!”

One day, Mrs Barn Owl suggested that Plop fly down into the world and find out about the dark for himself. Plop climbed out of his nest-hole, peeped over the edge, wobbled a bit, and fell off his branch. And so began Plop’s adventure...

With an irresistible blend of live music, puppetry and storytelling, this beautiful new show introduces an old friend to a new generation of theatre-goers.

Leeds Youth Opera presents The Poisoned Kiss

A rarely heard gem of the operatic repertoire, Vaughan Williams’ The Poisoned Kiss was premiered in Cambridge in 1936. This witty, lyrical ‘romantic extravaganza’ in three acts with spoken dialogue ensures a delightful, fun-filled night in the theatre.

The universal theme of love takes centre stage, alongside a plot for revenge by the magician Dissacus. When his daughter Tormentilla, brought up on a diet of poisons, falls in love with Amaryllus, Dipsacus is sure that their first kiss will spell death for her lover. But love conquers all, and even a mighty magician is powerless before its force.

Sarah Trist Dance Management Agency and Probe present May

A critically acclaimed and daring new piece of dance theatre from an award-winning company, written by Tim Crouch (The Author) and directed by Pete Shenton (New Art Club).

Told through a montage of dance, words and music, May is the tale of a passionate relationship between two misfits whose coming together brings them both close to destruction. Their unravelling pitches gritty realism against beguiling fairy tale, with comic interludes that frame the piece in the here and now.

Performed by Probe’s founder Antonia Grove (Rambert Dance Company, The National Theatre, and many more), accompanied by Place-Prize winner Ben Duke (Lost Dog) and musician Scott Smith.

We will use the information that is wirelessly available all around us to decide if this powerful tool is a service, an addiction, a teacher, a lifestyle or a religion.

We are going to have a quick journey around everything that exists and ever will exist. We will re-code the universe around us. Unfortunately we may get distracted by potential stardom, social interactions and competitions.

Awkward Cough presents Criminy

ONE BANK. THREE GUYS. SOME MONEY. NO WORDS.

The plan was simple. Find bank. Rob bank. Flee bank.

A classic silent comedy infused with modern gusto, Criminy follows the exploits of three down-on-their luck stooges who band together to pull off the perfect heist. Irreverent, frenetic and hilarious, this is slapstick for the twenty-first century.
